...on Christmas morning. Grayson drew this yesterday afternoon and all he's talked about is finally getting to go deer hunting. He did make a heck of a shot on the buck, I have to say :). Every morning he asks me how many more days until he gets to go. I'm not who's more excited, myself or Grayson. We're two days out from the youth hunt and his very first chance at a deer. I'm excited, he's excited, and Laura is excited to have a weekend of quiet at the house! Hayes will be staying with her this weekend but it will certainly be much quieter than normal. Grayson doesn't know it yet, but he will be getting a youth model 7mm-08 this weekend. He thinks he'll be shooting his .410 at them, but I just couldn't bring myself to feel that is a humane round to be slinging at a whitetail. I'm not yet sure how I'll present the gun to him. I had wanted to do a scavenger hunt at the farm but since we won't be getting there until after dark on Friday, I'll have to come up with something else. I've also attached a few pictures of the progress of the tractor shed field, the owl field and the rat hole. Grayson and I will be hunting the 3-Way Saturday morning and camped at the Rat Hole Saturday afternoon. We'll be on 3 year old or better. I did lower my standards a little for his first. :) I want him to shoot a buck for his first deer and then I'm going to let him fire away at the does. Hope to have some great pictures to share next week!
