Wow! It's hard to believe we are already preparing to close the door on another year. 2013 has been very good to our family and we are blessed beyond measure. God has provided each and every necessity for us and continues to work daily in each of our lives. I give Him all the praise and honor for good health, incredible friends, a great place to work and a beautiful family. I know that doesn't even scratch the surface of His goodness, but forgive me for not being able to put into words the awesomeness of His glory. I am so thankful for His grace and mercy that is poured out on me each and every day. I know this is a site that represents just a piece of what He has blessed us with, and I enjoy keeping up with the going-ons of the farm, but if you get anything at all from here, please know that I would love to talk with you about having a relationship with Christ if you don't currently have one. IT IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN EVER DO IN THIS LIFE. God bless each and every one of you that are reading this and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Another great weekend spent with family at 3F. Grayson, Hayes and myself left the house at 5 Saturday morning and headed west to the farm. We made it over around 10 and got to look around the new camp area and "piddle" a bit. Mom and Dad made it up a short time later. We didn't have a schedule or any tasks to tackle so we all took it easy around the camp for a few hours. The boys shot the .22 several times, rode their Gator and then we took a ride through the property to look at the fields and their progression. I can honestly say, I've never seen any of our fields look as good as they do this year. They are as tall, green and thick as I've ever seen them. I hope the deer start hammering them soon like they have in the past, otherwise I fear they may get too tall, tough and unpalatable. After the quick tour, we went back up to the camp and had lunch and dad and I worked on the new stand that will go in the Owl Field. The boys and I loaded up about 3 and headed back to the Tractor Shed field. On the way in we ran 3 bucks back across the bayou (bucks still in bachelor groups) and we were all pumped up for the afternoon sit. We saw a few deer right after we got settled but the rain picked up shortly thereafter. Several more deer visited the field before sundown, but nothing that Grayson wanted to shoot. It was a wonderful afternoon spent with my two boys. We made another go at it Sunday morning but once again, the shooter bucks didn't show themselves. A couple of does and small bucks appeared throughout the morning sit, but all in all, it was a slow morning. It was so nice to finally be able to utilize the new camp and be able to have some sort of shelter over our heads without having to leave the property. The electricity is now running, along with water. We hope to finish out the bedrooms and have it move in ready for Thanksgiving. A few pictures from Saturday are below. |
